How should I prepare for my lab visit?
The first step in preparing for your lab visit is to schedule your lab draw with Quest, which you can do directly in your MyParsley portal. While Quest does accept walk-ins, we strongly recommend scheduling ahead to reduce wait time and help you get in and out more quickly.
Once your appointment is scheduled, follow the steps below to prepare.
Before your blood draw:
- Hydrate: Drink plenty of water the day before and the morning of your visit.
- Fasting (required): Do not eat or drink coffee or tea for 8–10 hours before your appointment. Water is allowed.
- Medications: Continue taking your prescription medications unless your clinician has instructed you otherwise.
- Exercise: Avoid intense exercise for 24 hours prior to your visit.
What to bring:
- A photo ID and insurance card
- Lab orders: Your lab orders are automatically sent to Quest. If there is any confusion, you can confirm and download your orders in your My Parsley portal.
After your blood draw:
- If you feel dizzy or lightheaded, rest for a few minutes before leaving.
- Have a snack and drink water when possible.
- Avoid strenuous exercise for at least 4 hours.
